Are sticky notes still copyrighted by 3M? I see so many other companies selling them now?

1. I think it's more of a patent issue, a patent can only be exclusive for so long then others may produce the same. That's why Mercedes-Benz are not the only ones making cars to this day or why there are all kinds of different brands of denim jeans. I don't know all the specifics like how long a patent can be exclusive to the one who is responsible for that particular patent but I know it does run out. Kinda like medicine. There's a certain period when a drug is developed that only that company makes it and they have a right at being the only ones making it for a certain time, then you get the "generic" cheaper version that is often the same exact formula come out after x years. my cat will not get the fuck off my keyboard...jeez
