  1. good luck!!! try it on download.com
  2. if you happen to see the movie "drumline". the main cast of the movie are using a software wherein the program can recognize any tunes they play on their instruments (notes and everything..). you can see it in the 3/4 of the movie. i dont know exactly what the program is called but at least i gave you an idea that i somehow exist. if you know anyone who is a member of a college/school band. that will be the right person to ask to about that program. good luck
  3. What you need is a MIDI authoring programme like Cakewalk or Rosegarden. They allow you to compose music by using either a Staff View (where you write notes) or a Piano Roll View (where you select notes to be played based on the piano key), and then letting you choose what instruments to use per channel. After composing songs, you can even print your scores.
  4. You may also want to check out Band-in-the-Box by PG Music. It has an incredible feature that you can input a midi file or an audio file and it will interpret the music and present it on different tracks as well as printable lead sheets. A friend of mine with a studio has people come in and record one track audio on acoustic guitar to a click track. Band in the Box will take this track and turn it into a full blown band. Sometimes the chords it comes up with are better than the original. You can completely edit everything and use wave files instead of midi instruments. I've seen nothing like it and I have a lot of midi/audio recording software.
