1. http://www.sticky-notes.net/ I love those!! Send them to your friends as well and they appear on their desktops as stickies too!
2. If you have vista, you can get one for the sidebar.
3. Hottnotes are free and excellent - http://www.hottnotes.com/
4. If you have Office you have notes in Outlook which you can attach to the desktop or if you have Vista, it is one of the gadgets for the sidebar.
